1. Isaiah Crowell Is Going to Be a Factor
Isaiah Crowell's 21 attempts for 98 yards on Sunday in a loss to the Tennessee Titans continued his run as the unquestioned number-one back for the New York Jets, and it makes him a legitimate starter in the fantasy playoffs.
Crowell dominated the Jets' backfield, seeing 67.7% of their running-back carries in Week 13. He also caught four passes for nine yards in the effort, with those four receptions tying for the team lead.
Crowell’s 25 touches in the loss were his most of the season, and he figures to help the Jets usher a smoother transition as they go back to Sam Darnold in Week 14 when they face the Buffalo Bills.
While he won't always see a positive game script like he did for most of the matchup with Tennessee, volume alone keeps Crowell on the RB2 or flex radar moving forward.
2. Is Derrick Henry a Red-Zone Sleeper?
Derrick Henry has been one of the more polarizing runners all season. The Titans figured to be a thunder-and-lightning one-two punch of sorts with Henry and Dion Lewis. But for most of the year, Henry played a clear second fiddle to Lewis.
That's started to change lately, especially in the red zone, with Henry receiving 22 red-zone rushing chances to Lewis’ 20. While the volume has been the same, the key difference is Henry has five touchdowns on his 22 red-zone rushes and Lewis has just one.
Henry is handling 43.5% market share inside the 20, according to Pro Football Reference, and Lewis is at 38.0%. But when the Titans are inside the 5-yard-line, the split is even more in favor of Henry. Inside the 5, Henry has seen 41.7% of the carries to Lewis’ 25.0%.
Henry is still going to be a touchdown-dependent fantasy asset, but in situations in which Tennessee is favored -- which is the case this week versus Jacksonville and could be the same versus the Giants and Washington after that -- Henry isn't a bad dart throw at a touchdown for those in deeper leagues.
