Running Back Market Shares

1. Nick Chubb Is a Locked Into Big Volume

Since Week 7, Nick Chubb has seen 18, 20, 23 and 23 touches. The Chubb takeover is in full effect. And in Week 10, Chubb was tied for fourth in running back touches in the entire NFL.

Chubb handled 86 percent of the Cleveland Browns' rushing attempts on Sunday and took his 20 carries for 176 yards and a touchdown. Through the air, he added 3 catches for 33 yards and another score.

Since Cleveland traded Carlos Hyde, Chubb has been as firmly entrenched as the Browns' lead back, and he's gone for at least 80 rushing yards in three of the four games since the Hyde deal, averaging 101.5 rushing yards per game in that span. And while Duke Johnson has also seen an uptick in usage since Hyde left -- mostly in the passing game -- Chubb isn't a total zero as a pass catcher (six catches across the past three games).

Chubb is going to be on the RB1/2 borderline for the rest of the season -- our models have him as the RB17 in standard leagues the rest of the way -- and he is worthy of buying high. He certainly won't be easily to acquire on the back of his Week-10 performance, but with Cleveland on a bye in Week 11, maybe Chubb's price won't be as high as it should be.

2. Matt Breida Is the Man in San Fran

When Matt Breida is healthy, it’s clear the San Francisco 49ers want to make him the focal point of their rushing offense.

Against the New York Giants on Monday night, Breida handled a 58 percent market share in the 49ers' backfield, and he played on 60 percent of the Niners' snaps. His 17 rushes went for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. He is also a nice threat out of the backfield, catching 3 receptions for 31 and a touchdown on 4 targets.

Alfred Morris was mixed in, playing 19 percent of the snaps, but only to spell Breida, with Alf totaling 9 carries for a mere 19 yards.

Breida has been a superb performer when healthy, and with a Week 11 bye to get back to 100 percent, he could be a big difference maker down the stretch.
