Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants

Sure, Eli Manning is about as unexciting as they come for fantasy football quarterbacks. He hasn't finished higher than QB10 in any of the last five seasons, and 2017 saw him throw for only 3,468 yards and 19 touchdowns. That doesn't mean he can't offer big single-week upside though.

Even in his terrible 2017 season, he topped 25 fantasy points on 2 occasions -- something he did 5 times in the 3 seasons prior.

This week's matchup with the New Orleans Saints has all the makings of one of those spots.

This game has a solid 50-point over/under, which has only been the case for one of Eli's games in the last two seasons (he notched 18 fantasy points in that one). The Saints have allowed the league's most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks over three weeks, which includes allowing 40-plus fantasy point games to both Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Ryan.

The Saints also rank dead-last in numberFire's Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play metric -- something that's not likely to improve much now that they have lost starting slot corner Patrick Robinson for the season.

This isn't as much a pro-Eli play as an anti-New Orleans play. The Saints are shaping up to be a team that virtually any quarterback can be a viable fantasy starter against.
