Quarterback

Chalk

Everyone wants tickets to the gun show. After two dominating performances and with a positive Week 3 matchup on tap, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is going to be on a lot of people's minds when they are building tournament lineups.

Mahomes' $8,900 price tag is $1,400 more than last week, making him the most expensive quarterback on the slate. He faces a San Francisco 49ers defense this week that is giving up the eighth-most FanDuel points to opposing quarterbacks this season. They gave up 20.36 to Kirk Cousins in Week 1 and 28.68 to Matthew Stafford in Week 2.

Those who aren't looking Mahomes way this week could well be focused across the field to the Niners' bench. Jimmy Garoppolo is just the 25th-best FanDuel quarterback this season, but that should change this week.

The Chiefs are giving up 34.47 FanDuel points per game to starting signal callers, 2.76 points more than the second-place Pittsburgh Steelers. The Niners are underdogs this week, but they still have a solid implied total of 24.25.

Garoppolo is $1,500 cheaper than Mahomes, which makes him a target for those looking to spend up at other positions. Regardless, both of these quarterbacks should be very popular plays this week.

Pivot

Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams: $7,600 (vs Los Angeles Chargers)

There was no reason for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff to do much last week. The Rams were up 19-0 at half and the defense was rolling. Despite that, he finished with 354 passing yards in Week 2.

This week, he'll face off against the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that has given up the ninth-most points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. That number benefits from last week's matchup against the Buffalo Bills, who were down 28-3 at one point.

The Chargers will continue to be without Joey Bosa, who is still dealing with a foot issue. Without him, it will be difficult for their defense to generate much pressure against Goff, who has been sacked just three times this season.

We have Goff projected for only 17.4 FanDuel points, which wouldn't return much value at his $7,600 price. We have his upside at 32.43, which would return a value of 4.27 points per $1,000. That's exactly the type of upside you are looking for in tournaments. Coupled with his likely low ownership, Goff should have a place in a few of your lineups this week.
