A Stud that Could Flop & A Sub that Could Pop

Jay Ajayi Will Be Held Under 50 Rushing Yards

The Philadelphia Eagles square off Sunday against the suddenly electrifying Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And while the Bucs' pass defense left a lot to be desired in Week 1 versus New Orleans, the Saints only rushed for 43 yards.

The Bucs' front seven is a highly respectable group of veterans including Jason Pierre-Paul, Vinny Curry, and Gerald McCoy up front. They will soon be joined by first round rookie Tevita Vea, though his Week 2 status is murky.

The Tampa defense's -0.27 Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points per play ranked fourth best on the week, which is quite telling given the prowess of the Saints' running game.

While Jay Ajayi found success in the opener against Atlanta positing a Rushing Success Rate of 46.7% that ranked sixth among all running backs with at least 10 carries, he should see a tougher test on the road in Tampa.

Like Alvin Kamara in New Orleans, the opportunity for running back points comes in the air against the Bucs. If Darren Sproles does not suit up, Corey Clement becomes a very sneaky play for Week 2.

Dante Pettis Will Eclipse 75 Receiving Yards

San Francisco draws a Week 2 matchup against a Detroit Lions defense that was shredded by the youngest quarterback to ever start a game in the New York Jets' Sam Darnold. The Lions yielded the fourth highest Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points per play in that contest.

Enter Jimmy Garoppolo at home with Pierre Garcon, George Kittle, and Dante Pettis. The rookie Pettis logged 73% of snaps in Week 1 and hauled in two long passes, one of which went for a touchdown.

The opportunity for Pettis comes on the heels of a quad injury to veteran speedster Marquise Goodwin. Whether Goodwin is able to suit up or not, Pettis is likely to play his fair share of snaps in this contest. Given that he only needs a small opportunity to post big numbers, Pettis is primed to benefit from an amazing matchup in a get-right game for his star signal caller.
