Waiting until the final two rounds of your fantasy football draft to select a kicker and a defense has become commonplace in fantasy today. With that trend in mind, it's important to play the matchups in Week 1 rather than lament about not drafting an elite defense in Round 10. Oftentimes an undrafted defense set up with a juicy matchup will outperform that unit that went in the middle rounds of your draft.

Moving into the season, this is what makes streaming defenses such a valuable strategy. Defensive fantasy points are driven by sacks and turnovers, meaning that even a poor defense by traditional football measures can have a great fantasy football performance if the matchup is right.
