Case Keenum, QB, Denver Broncos

There’s always a measure of uncertainty for fantasy players when a quarterback changes offensive schemes, let alone goes to an entirely new team. We shouldn’t necessarily be afraid of the unknown, though, with Case Keenum of the Denver Broncos, who broke out in a big way last year.

Not only will Keenum keep a strong supporting cast in his new location, he also finds himself with the second-easiest schedule for quarterbacks in the fantasy playoffs: at San Francisco 49ers, versus Cleveland Browns, and at Oakland Raiders.

Each of these teams were in the bottom-six by schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play last year, and allowed a ton of fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2017. The table below shows each of their ranks in both categories.

Perhaps the biggest target matchup for fantasy owners should be Week 15 against the Browns, who Keenum diced up last season for 288 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception (17.52 points). While Cleveland drafted and signed some upgrades for their secondary this offseason, there should still be plenty of holes for Keenum to exploit in the mile-high air.

Keenum is no all-star fantasy pick, but if you’re taking the late-round quarterback approach, he’s a strong bet – especially in the late season.
