Pierre Garcon, San Francisco 49ers

ADP: 9.06 (WR42)

Last season, Pierre Garcon's ADP settled a full three rounds earlier than it sits now (6.06), and he was being drafted as the WR31.

Why?

Sure, there are some concerns, I suppose. Garcon, now 32 years old, caught 40 passes in 2017 and failed to reach the end zone. However, our advanced analytics suggest that he should have scored 2.64 times.

Digging a little deeper, according to data from nflscrapR, Garcon caught just 5 of his 11 targets that featured him within 20 yards of the end zone (his field position at the target -- not the line of scrimmage of the play's origin) and just 1 of 3 from inside the 10. He had no end zone targets.

Also, because Garcon played in San Fran's first eight games and Jimmy Garoppolo started the final five, Garcon saw no targets from 2017's most efficient passer, via numberFire's metrics.

Putting that into some on-field perspective, C.J. Beathard and Brian Hoyer combined for 42 red zone pass attempts in 2017. Garoppolo generated 45. Garoppolo also bested the pair in end zone targets (16 to 13).

All-around good guy and deep threat Marquise Goodwin is apparently Garoppolo's go-to target, but Garcon -- even with the donut in the touchdown column, was 2017's WR26 through Week 8. There's a lot of room for him to outperform the WR42 ADP.
