There's Something Wrong With the Chiefs

It's been a tough few weeks for the Kansas City Chiefs, and perhaps even tougher for fantasy football players based off the performances of Alex Smith and Kareem Hunt. What appeared to be the NFL's most explosive offense at the start of this season is now one of the league's most stagnant units, evidenced by their 16-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills Sunday.

This isn't just an isolated performance, either -- the Chiefs have been trending downwards for a while now. After starting 5-0, they've since lost five of their last six games. They've also failed to score 20 points in any of their last three contests despite playing against bottom-half defenses each time.

A lot of this rests on Smith -- his yards per passing attempt average has dropped from 8.72 through the first five weeks all the way down to 7.03 yards per attempt in his last six games. And then there's his completion percentage, which has topped 70 percent once in his last six games after never dipping below that number through the first five weeks.

Smith's struggles have a ripple effect through the entire Chiefs' offense, making it difficult to start any KC players not named Travis Kelce until things turn around.
