Quarterback

Chalk

There are quite a few quarterbacks that could prove to have high ownership this week.

Fresh off a drubbing of the Oakland Raiders, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots head back home for a divisional matchup against the Miami Dolphins. All signs point to a blowout, as the Pats are 16.5-point favorites and have an implied total of 32.00, highest on the slate. He's the most expensive option this week at the position, but is also the most likely to return value, especially in cash games. We have him pegged to return nearly three-times value, even at a price point of $9,100. He should be first on people's minds when building lineups.

Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, and Matt Ryan all have excellent matchups and should likely see a lot of interest. Big Ben is at home versus a beaten down Green Bay Packers team, Wilson is on the road against a San Francisco 49ers defense that is giving up the fourth-most points to opposing quarterbacks, and Ryan is at home against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that just allowed Matt Moore to complete passes at will.

With Tyrod Taylor starting, he should also prove popular against a very beatable Kansas City Chiefs secondary.

Pivot

Cam Newton, $8,000 (at New York Jets)

With so many good matchups to choose from, Cam Newton could be that player to get lost in the shuffle. Despite a 9.44-point outing against the Chicago Bears in Week 7, Newton has scored at least 20 points in five of his past seven games, topping 34 points twice in that stretch.

The New York Jets present a positive matchup for him, too. Before Ryan Fitzpatrick's dud against them in Week 10, the Jets had allowed six quarterbacks to throw for multiple scores in a five-week span. That stretch included Kevin Hogan, Jay Cutler, and Matt Moore. Cutler and Moore combined for four scores in a Week 7 loss to New York.

The Jets are prone to giving up yards on the ground to opposing passers, which fits right into Newton's warehouse. They have given up the third-most rushing yards to quarterbacks, allowing four different signal callers to rush for at least 29 yards (Tyrod did it twice...bench him!).

The Panthers are favored by five, but have a low implied total of 22.25 points. Despite this, the matchup plays to Newton's strengths, which should allow him to have a solid floor with the potential of returning three-times value or higher.
