NFL
Week 9 Fantasy Football Market Share Report: Assessing Kareem Hunt

If someone were to walk up to me in the street today and give me the middle finger, the odds that I'd react in a negative fashion are quite high. Because I'm a big ol' baby, I'm probably running away and never looking back. It's conflict management at its finest.

In reality, the ideal reaction to getting flipped off would be to talk to the other person to find out why they did it. By doing that, I'm not going to erase the scars of the gesture, but maybe I can understand why they were motivated to do it in the first place.

There is no bigger middle finger to ourselves than whiffing on a play in NFL DFS. If you spend your hard-earned money on a lineup in DFS, and a part of that lineup hits the tubes, you're going to sprint in the other direction at light speed. It's almost impossible not to overreact because the emotional pain of these whiffs is legit.

But if we want to learn from our experience, we can't just run away. We have to look at the situation, find out why that pick didn't work, and decide how to handle that player going forward. It sucks to get flipped the bird, but it doesn't mean we should just write the player off entirely.

Basically, we need to try to take our emotions out of the equation even when the emotions associated with a bad play are understandably high. That's what we're trying to do here with the help of numberFire's daily fantasy tools.

Here, premium members can see each player's rushing, receiving, and red-zone market share for the past one, three, or five games along with the full season. Data doesn't have emotions, so we can lean on this a bit more when we want to get an objective view of a player's value.

Week 9 presented plenty of areas where you could have gotten tripped up. While pushing our sour feelings aside, how do we handle these situations going forward? Let's check it out.
