Donte Moncrief, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Yahoo Ownership: 38%

The laundry list of things that have gone wrong to prevent Donte Moncrief's annual impending breakout is lengthy. In 2015, his second season in the league, his breakout seemed to be coming as he tallied a very respectable 17 catches for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns through the first three games of the season.

But quarterback Andrew Luck went on to miss nine games that season, severely depressing Moncrief's fantasy output. In fact, Moncrief averaged 5.4 more PPR points per game in games when Luck played, per Rotoviz's Game Splits app. Yikes.

In 2016, Moncrief was ailing from injuries, including a fractured scapula and a hamstring injury that, combined, caused him to miss seven games on the season. But when on the field, despite putting up a pedestrian 34.1 receiving yards per game, he managed to find the end zone seven times.

With Luck's surgically repaired shoulder ensuring he'd miss a few games to start the season, Moncrief's immediate 2017 outlook wasn't great, but his touchdown upside with Luck tossing him the ball made him worth hanging onto.

But as Luck's chances to return have become much bleaker with his most recent setback, it's clear that Moncrief's path to fantasy relevancy is all but gone for 2017. With only one target in Week 8 and only two games on the season with over five targets, he isn't going to be able to produce with Jacoby Brissett at the helm.

Drop Moncrief for a higher upside option like Paul Richardson.
