5 NFL FanDuel Studs to Target in Week 8

Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

FanDuel Price: $7,900
Projected Points: 25.5

Here at numberFire, we have a metric called Net Expected Points (NEP) that compares every single play over a season to how a league-average team should perform on that play. Our Success Rate metric measures the percentage of plays in which the NEP was greater than zero. For more about our in-house metrics, check out our glossary.

Among all quarterbacks with 50 or more drop backs this season, Carson Wentz's 0.25 Passing NEP per play ranks third. His average of 264.57 passing yards per game ranks eighth and his average of 2.43 touchdowns per game narrowly trails Deshaun Watson for the league lead.

Wentz has also increased his presence in the ground game this season, averaging 5.71 rushing attempts per game, the third-heaviest workload of any quarterback. That does give a boost to his floor, and there's no questioning his high ceiling as he's racked up 11 touchdown passes over the past three games.

He gets to ride that hot streak into a Week 8 meeting with the San Francisco 49ers, who are allowing the second-most FanDuel points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. The Philadelphia Eagles have the highest implied total (29.50) points of the week, and our models project Wentz as both the highest-scoring player and best value play on FanDuel.
