NFL
Fantasy Football: 4 Unexpectedly Great Week 7 Performances

Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

NFL.com Start Percentage: 45%

Week 7 Fantasy Points: 31

Carson Wentz was the top-performing fantasy quarterback (NFL.com scoring) of Week 7. He's becoming a regular in this column.

He showed up as the third-best quarterback last week and the second-best quarterback in Week 2. As the season has progressed, fantasy owners have warmed up. Back in Week 2, he was only started by about 25 percent of his fantasy owners, but in Week 7, that number jumped to 45 percent. At this point of the season, though, it's fair to say that Wentz should be an every-week starter.

The second-year signal caller has produced 20 or more fantasy points in four of seven games and has gone under 15 points just once. Only the equally surprising Alex Smith has scored more points on the season. The Eagles are numberFire's third-ranked passing offense and Wentz is already our top-ranked quarterback for Week 8.

His next matchup will be against the San Francisco 49ers, who give up the third-most points to fantasy quarterbacks, so don't be surprised to see him in this column again. Unless, of course, more fantasy owners get the message and start him.
