Quarterback: Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs

Alex Smith, QB, Kansas City Chiefs

29 for 37, 324 Yards, 3 Touchdowns

5 Rushes, 19 Yards

Performance Score: 99, NEP: +28.31

After scoring more than 26 fantasy points just four times in his first 141 games in the NFL, Alex Smith now has three such games so far in 2017. It's an astonishing turn of events for the 33-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, he was easily our top quarterback in Week 5 with his 99 Performance Score in a 3 touchdown performance against the Houston Texans.

Perhaps motivated by the presence of quarterback-of-the-future Patrick Mahomes, Smith is turning in the best season of his career by far, managing 12 total touchdown without a turnover. On Sunday he completed 78.4 percent of his passes for 324 yards.

In standard scoring formats, Smith is now just 1 point behind Tom Brady and rookie sensation Deshaun Watson in total points at the quarterback position and is clearly in the MVP conversation with the Chiefs out to a 5-0 start. While it seems possible that Smith could turn back into a pumpkin at any moment, for now he remains one of the more surprising must start players to date.
