Alshon Jeffery Won't Be a Top-30 Wide Receiver

Why This Is Bold: Alshon Jeffery currently ranks as the 18th-best wide receiver in point-per-reception (PPR) leagues, and fantasy players who drafted him are likely looking to slot him into their lineups as one of their top options this week.

Why This Will Happen: Jeffery will get trailed by a top cornerback in Patrick Peterson -- similar to last week's rationale for Mike Evans struggling against Janoris Jenkins.

Per the NFL's Next Gen Stats, quarterbacks have completed just 6 passes against Peterson all season. He's been one of the best cornerbacks in the league yet again and has allowed even fewer points per reception in his coverage than Jenkins.

Jeffery hasn't been a usable fantasy asset in the two games where he has failed to reach the end zone, catching a combined 7 passes for 94 yards. Judging by the matchup he's likely to face, it's improbable that this week bucks the trend.
