Are the Browns Embracing Cody Kessler?

The Cleveland Browns had a strong showing in the opening round, securing Myles Garrett, Jabrill Peppers, and David Njoku, but they didn't address the quarterback position.

Cleveland doesn't pick until the 20th choice in the second round, and after three quarterbacks went in the first, the Browns might need to trade up to nab DeShone Kizer if they want someone with potential first-round pedigree.

But perhaps the Browns feel set with Cody Kessler under center. Kessler actually played quite well when given time to throw last year, and while Garrett, Peppers, and Njoku won't do much to help buy him time in the pocket, the Browns could make a big step forward in 2017 if these pieces pan out and Kessler can stay upright.

With the 22nd-ranked offense and 31st-ranked defense by our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, the Browns don't have much room to get worse, and their opening round of the draft suggests they could start trending up right away.
