Ryan Mathews, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

FanDuel Price: $5,500

The Philadelphia Eagles' backfield has been a mess this year. Coach Doug Pederson spent a majority of the past two months telling us Ryan Mathews was the starter when Darren Sproles was dominating the touches. Then, before Week 10, Pederson finally admitted Sproles was the starter.

So, of course, Mathews comes out and has a monster game, getting 19 carries to Sproles' 2 attempts. Obviously, this is a backfield situation that is very difficult to predict.

With that said, this week's matchup at the Seattle Seahawks doesn't appear to set up well for Mathews. The Eagles are 6.5-point underdogs with a meager implied total of 18.25 points. Expected to face a negative game script, Sproles figures to be the better play. Even in the midst of Mathews' 19-carry game last week, Sproles still saw 10 targets, and he owns a 20.6% target market share over the past three weeks.

Sproles is going to be involved in the passing attack, and Philadelphia should have to be somewhat pass-heavy in this one. Mathews has shown time and again this season he can salvage low-volume days with touchdowns, but he sets up as a risky play this week despite a cheap price tag. At the same salary, we can roster James Starks, who should see the volume we crave in a friendlier matchup.
