Quarterback

Chalk:

If paying up at quarterback, people are most likely to spend their money on Tom Brady with the New England Patriots possessing the second-highest implied team total on the slate. Dak Prescott and Marcus Mariota come in as intriguing mid-price range options against sub-par pass defenses, too.

Pivots:

Philip Rivers, $8,100 (vs Miami Dolphins): Philip Rivers is interesting as a near direct price pivot off of Brady ($8,300) and Prescott ($7,700) on FanDuel, and he helps split the chalk on teammate Melvin Gordon, who should be one of the most popular plays on the weekend.

Game script sets up well for Rivers in this one as well, as the Chargers have the third-highest implied team total on the slate (26.25 points). Since the beginning of 2014, Rivers has averaged 41.5 pass attempts and 314 passing yards in games with at least a 48.5-point over/under, as opposed to 36.8 attempts and 274 yards in all other games, per the RotoViz Game Splits App. The Dolphins have been middle of the pack against the pass this season, but they haven't faced many tough passing games. Rivers could certainly expose their secondary this week and could be a difference-maker in tournaments at very low ownership.

Carson Wentz, $6,800 (vs Atlanta Falcons): Okay, so we might have jumped the gun a bit on Carson Wentz. However, that doesn't mean we have to overcorrect and avoid him going forward, especially when he has a matchup as juicy as the one he has this week against the Atlanta Falcons. No team has allowed more FanDuel points per game to opposing quarterbacks than the Falcons this season, who have allowed eight passing touchdowns to Aaron Rodgers and Jameis Winston in the past two games.

And with the Philadelphia Eagles running game struggling to get things going, they've leaned more heavily on Wentz, allowing him to chuck it 90 times over the past two weeks. Philly is projected for 24 points in what should be a shootout (50-point over/under, the highest on the slate) and Wentz could end up seeing impressive volume once again while playing from behind. He is an interesting high-upside tournament pivot off of Mariota, who is $700 more and should see much higher ownership.
