Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins

FanDuel Price: $7,200
Salary Change: Down $600

The 2016 season hasn’t gone as planned for Kirk Cousins. Through two weeks, Cousins has completed just 5 of 17 passes for 34 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions in the red zone, according to ESPN Stats & Information. That’s a stark contrast from Cousins’ red zone performance last year when he completed 64 percent of his passes for 22 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Rich Hribar of Rotoworld, however, provides some optimism for Cousins moving forward. Cousins has averaged only 15.8 FanDuel points per game through two games yet ranks first in the NFL in passing yards, completions, and attempts per drive.

This week against the New York Giants, his salary is $7,200, down $600 from last week. This is great news for us because, since the beginning of 2014, quarterbacks reach tournament value 30 percent of the time when their salary drops $500 or more in September.

Because of his matchup and early-season performance, Cousins will likely be less than five percent owned in GPPs. When there’s a major difference in ownership and probability of reaching tournament value, you have an elite GPP play.
