Fantasy Football: 3 Kickers to Target in the Last Round of Your Draft
Instead of just picking a random kicker from your cheat sheet, choose one who projects well in Week 1.

Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis Colts

There's a chance that Adam Vinatieri has been playing in the NFL longer than you have been alive. The 43-year-old kicker is entering his 21st season in the NFL. When it comes to fantasy football, it's natural for people to hesitate when drafting older players. Everyone wants that shiny new toy instead, but when it comes to kickers, we don't discriminate.

Vinatieri has a juicy Week 1 matchup versus the Detroit Lions. The game will be played indoors at Lucas Oil Stadium, so weather won't be a factor. The Indianapolis Colts are favored by four points, according to Pinnacle Sports. According to Sannes's research, kickers from 2012 to 2014 on teams who are favored by fewer than five points (or in a pick 'em) returned an average of 8.54 points.

Those points are a good day for a kicker, but we also like Vinatieri's chances because of the Colts' high implied total. The total for the game has climbed to 51.5 points. Because the Colts are favored by 4, their implied total is a substantial 29.75. Sannes found that kickers playing on a team with an implied total of 27 to 29.75 scored an average of 8.64 points.
