College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 10/9/20 Single-Game Slate

Week 6 of the college football season continues Friday night as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets play host to the Louisville Cardinals.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5 times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

MVP Consideration

Milak Cunningham, Louisville ($16,000) - Cunningham is reportedly ready to play after sustaining a scary hit in Louisville's 23-20 loss to Pittsburgh Panthers two weeks ago. Prior to that game, Cunningham had topped 300 yards passing and thrown three touchdowns in each of the Cardinals' first two games this season. He's in a prime bounce back spot on Friday night as the Cardinals face off with the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets are allowing nearly 270 yards passing to opposing signal callers. They've also been beaten for seven touchdown passes through only three games.

Jeff Sims, Georgia Tech ($14,500) - Sims was ranked as one of the top-15 recruits in Georgia Tech history by the recruiting website Rivals. The freshman has accounted for five out of eight Yellow Jackets' offensive touchdowns through three games. He's averaging 231.7 passing yards while also leading Georgia Tech in rushing. The freshman has 187 yards rushing on 37 attempts this season. With an implied team total near 29, Sims makes for an intriguing MVP candidate.

Javian Hawkins, Louisville ($14,000) - Hawkins ranks 13th in the nation with 104.3 rushing yards per game this season. The sophomore has found the end zone in five straight games dating back to last year. Hawkins has received at least 11 carries in 16 career games. He's in a great spot as he squares off with Georgia Tech's vulnerable run defense, one that is allowing 171.7 rushing yards per game.

Tutu Atwell ($13,000) - Atwell is one of the best wide receivers in the country. The dynamic playmaker has already piled up 19 receptions, 229 receiving yards, and three touchdowns on 28 targets through three games this season, per Pro Football Focus. Atwell has nine touchdown receptions over his last nine games played dating back to 2019.

Others to consider: Jahmyr Gibbs.

Value Plays

Dez Fitzpatrick, Louisville ($10,500) - While he often plays second-fiddle to Atwell, Fitzpatrick is a solid wide receiver in his own right. Fitzpatrick is a strong play on Friday night because of Louisville's tight wide receiver rotation. Per Pro Football Focus, Fitzpatrick and Atwell have been targeted 49 times combined (Fitzpatrick has 21 targets) while the rest of the Louisville skill players account for only 34 total targets. With Georgia Tech struggling to defend the pass, Fitzpatrick and Atwell should have little resistance in lighting up the box score.

Malachi Carter ($9,000) - Carter is the lone Georgia Tech wide receiver with a touchdown reception this season. He also leads the Yellow Jackets with 120 yards receiving. Sims is posting an 85.4 passer rating when targeting Carter, which is a team high among GT wide receivers, per Pro Football Focus.

Ahmarean Brown, Georgia Tech ($8,000) - Brown is off to a slow start as Georgia Tech breaks in a freshman quarterback. The sophomore has five receptions for 76 yards through three games. However, his 12 targets are third most amongst Yellow Jackets pass catchers, per Pro Football Focus. Despite the slow start, he's the most appealing wide receiver to target on Georgia Tech after leading the team in touchdown receptions (seven) last season.

Marshon Ford, Louisville ($7,000) - Ford has already recorded two touchdown receptions across three games this season.The sophomore led all ACC tight ends with seven touchdown receptions in 2019. More importantly, his cheap salary is needed in order to roster the high-salary players on Friday night.

Others to consider: Jalen Camp, Marquez Ezzard, and Justin Marshall.
