College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Saturday 11/16/19 Main Slate

Believe it or not we're entering into Week 12 of the season, and if you haven't already gotten into the action it's a great time to plunge into college football DFS. This week's main slate is bursting with 16 games at our feet.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running back slots, three wide receiver slots (which also includes tight ends) and one super flex slot. In the flex, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our in-house projections as well as betting totals and advanced statistics to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. Today, we are looking at Saturday's main slate which locks at 12:00 p.m. EST.

Let's break down which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with cheap price tags that will allow you to roster the high dollar players.

Quarterbacks

Justin Fields, Ohio State ($10,800) - Last week, we turned to Fields over Jalen Hurts, and it didn't quite pay off. But, while Hurts eclipsed 40 FanDuel points, Fields turned in 4 total touchdowns and 28.8 FanDuel points. This week, he draws a similarly great matchup on the road at Rutgers, and he remains a $1,200 discount to Hurts, who faces a Baylor defense ranked 14th in Bill Connelly's SP+. Rutgers, in allowing 232.6 passing yards and 36.7 points a game, sits back at 86th on that list. For that reason, Ohio State draws a 57-point implied total, which could push Fields for 30-plus FanDuel points.

Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State ($9,100) - At home against Kansas, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are 17-point favorites in a game with a slate-high 68-point over/under. Their 42.5 implied total is among the top four on the slate, and they could push beyond that if the improved Jayhawks keep it close enough against the Pokes' defense. Sanders should have the opportunity to do much more than he did last week, when he completed just nine passes for two touchdowns and 22.1 FanDuel points. He was able to enjoy a good fantasy day because of his ability to contribute on the ground, where he has 588 yards for the season.

Tyler Huntley, Utah ($8,000) - If you're looking for a low-priced signal caller with a high implied total, look no further than Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley. He is outside the top 20 at his position by price, but his 36.75 implied total is seventh on the board. The Utes' opponent, the UCLA Bruins, is 76th in defense and have allowed the 8th-most passing yards per game (294.3) to date. Huntley himself averages just over 21 attempts per game, but he gets a sizable boost and has shown the ability to go off earlier in the year. During a four-game stretch, he totaled 10 touchdowns with a combined average of 298.3 yards through the ground and air. He's the guy you want if you find yourself gravitating to the high-cost plays at running back and receiver.

Running Backs

Chuba Hubbard, Oklahoma State ($10,600) - Hubbard should benefit from the same plus matchup as Sanders but to an even higher degree. The game script favors the run as does the opponent. The visiting Jayhawks are allowing the third-most adjusted yards per attempt on this slate, having given up 200 or more rushing yards in six of nine matchups. They have surrendered at least three touchdowns four times and two in another. That's music to the ears of a guy like Hubbard, who averages 30.8 FanDuel points on 26.2 carries, 18.2 yards and 2.0 scores a game. Dial him up as the premier play on this giant slate.

Travis Etienne, Clemson ($9,900) - At a $700 drop from Hubbard, Etienne is in a position to possibly end the day as the highest-scoring back. For starters, his Clemson Tigers own the second-highest implied total (46.75) at home against Wake Forest. But the junior is running hot with no fewer than 30 FanDuel points in each of the last four games. He's even contributed 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown over that set of contests. At an upside as high -- if not higher -- than those priced above $10,000, it's hard not to roster Etienne in Week 12.

Master Teague, Ohio State ($7,100) - According to the oddsmakers, the Buckeyes could get up by so much that they coast after two or three quarters. That could be cause for a short day for starter J.K. Dobbins in favor of backup Master Teague. We could end up seeing him get as much -- if not more -- run as Dobbins. Teague has already received double-digit carries in seven of nine games this year, including the last two. In those seven, he's averaging 79.1 rushing yards and 11.4 FanDuel points, and in his last five, he's averaging 13.6 with two games of at least 15. If he accounts for 100 and a score, his 16 FanDuel points is enough for 2.3-times value. He's a great tournament play -- one that will allow you to pay up for a top quarterback and/or wide receiver.

Wide Receivers

CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma ($9,600) - With what Lamb has done lately, why not go back to the well? On the heels of last week's 30.7 FanDuel points, the Oklahoma pass catcher has managed at least five catches and 21.5 FanDuel points in three of his last four. Lamb has received 39 targets in that span, but still, he isn't the most expensive receiver on the slate. There isn't as much certainty as in previous weeks, but the 40-point upside is there in what projects to be a shootout in Waco.

Justin Jefferson, LSU ($8,800) - This isn't necessarily a pricing inefficiency, but Jefferson is priced below teammate Ja'Marr Chase ($9,400), and the gap is too vast to compensate for the difference in production. After all, the former is as consistent as they come. The uber-talented wideout has at least five catches in all but one game with seven or more in five straight. During that span he's put together an average of 101.2 yards and 19.0 FanDuel points on 9.2 targets with a total of four trips to the end zone. With Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers implied at 43.5 points, Jefferson should convert his workload into a touchdown and a big fantasy day.

Dillon Stoner, Oklahoma State ($7,600) - Unfortunately, Tylan Wallace is done for the season, but that provides some value in the Cowboys' receiving corps. That starts with Stoner, who is the second-leading receiver on the team after tallying three catches (on seven targets) for 93 yards and two scores a week ago. And he accomplished that feat in a game OK State didn't have to sling it all over the field. In this environment, Stoner is an elite value play under $8,000.
