College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Saturday 10/26/19 Late Slate

Week 9 of college football is here! FanDuel's Saturday night college football DFS late slate includes 12 games.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running back slots, three wide receiver slots (which also includes tight ends) and one super flex slot. In the flex, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our in-house projections as well as betting totals and advanced statistics to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. This week, we are only breaking down Saturday's late slate, which locks at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Let's breakdown which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with cheap price tags that will allow you to roster the high dollar players.

Quarterbacks

I’ll avoid writing about Jett Duffey, Mac Jones, and Najee Harris (who are all very good plays) since our own Brett Oswalt did a great job of breaking them down on his main slate helper article, which can be found here.

Dillon Gabriel, Central Florida ($9,100) – The freshman is averaging 285.7 passing yards and 2.7 total touchdowns per game. The emerging signal caller hasn’t been held under 281 yards passing in five straight games. He’ll look to take advantage of a reeling Temple Owls defense that was annihilated last week by Southern Methodist Mustangs quarterback Shane Buechele (457 yards passing and 6 touchdown passes).

Justin Herbert, Oregon ($9,000) – The senior quarterback is averaging 268.8 passing yards and 3 touchdown passes per game for the Oregon Ducks. He’s one of the most accurate passers in the country. There’s no telling how much damage he may inflict upon this week’s opponent, the Washington State Cougars. The Cougars have been torched by opposing quarterbacks in Pac-12 conference play: UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw for 507 yards and 5 touchdowns, Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley threw for 334 yards and 2 scores, and Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for 363 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Jordan Love, Utah State ($7,400) – Love entered the season with high expectations, which included pre-season Heisman trophy hype and an early round NFL draft projection. However, the junior has struggled this season as he’s only thrown for 1,507 yards and 7 touchdowns with 9 interceptions in six games. The reason to be optimistic about Love this week is his passing volume and matchup. The talented signal caller has attempted at least 30 passes in all six starts. This week’s opponent, the Air Force Falcons, are ranked 74th nationally in passing yards allowed (231 yards passing per game). Love threw for 356 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 42-32 win over the Falcons a season ago.

Others to consider: Aaron Gordon, Kelly Bryant, Trevor Lawrence, Ian Book, Jett Duffey, Jayden Daniels, Carter Stanley, Mike Schmidt (if Hammond and Sanders are out), Mac Jones

Running Backs

Kenneth Gainwell, Memphis ($10,200) – The freshman has been phenomenal in his first season as the Memphis Tigers' running back. In last week’s 47-17 win over Tulane, Gainwell produced three touchdowns and 307 yards of total offense (104 yards rushing and 203 yards receiving). The versatile running back has now topped 104 yards rushing in five straight games. Up next is a date with an awful Tulsa Golden Hurricane run defense. The Golden Hurricane have surrendered 18 rushing touchdowns in seven games while allowing 195.1 rushing yards per game. Gainwell is my top running back this week.

Juwan Washington, San Diego State ($8,700) – In three games since returning from injury, Washington has scored four touchdowns for the San Diego State Aztecs. He’s topped 78 yards rushing in those three games while also averaging 20.3 carries post injury. With that kind of volume, he should have no problem finding running room against the Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels' porous run defense. The Runnin' Rebels are allowing 216.9 rushing yards per game, and they’ve surrendered 19 rushing touchdowns to opposing backfields in only seven games this season.

Otis Anderson, Central Florida ($7,400) – Anderson could find himself in the lead back role this week as the Central Florida Knights will be without their leading rusher (Greg McRae) and possibly their second leading rusher, too (Adrain Killins Jr.). With McRae and Killins Jr. leaving early with injuries in last week’s 41-28 win over the East Carolina Pirates, the versatile Anderson totaled 108 yards on 20 touches.

Others to consider: Eno Benjamin, Najee Harris, Zack Moss, Max Borghi, Travis Etienne, Pooka Williams Jr., Joshua Kelley, SaRodorick Thompson, Re'Mahn Davis, Tony Jones Jr., Larry Rountree III, Gerald Bright, CJ Verdell, Cyrus Habibi-Likio, Kadin Remsburg, Taven Birdow, Brian Robinson Jr., and Lyn-J Dixon

Wide Receivers

Gabriel Davis, Central Florida ($9,900) – Davis is one of the best wide receivers in the country. The junior ranks fourth in the nation with 119 yards receiving per game and is tied for first nationally with 10 touchdown receptions. The emerging star has topped 119 yards receiving in four straight games, and he’s caught multiple touchdown passes in four out of seven games this season. Davis will matchup up with a Temple secondary that surrendered 260 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns to SMU’s Reggie Roberson Jr. last week.

Jaylen Redd, Oregon ($8,400) – Redd has emerged as one of Justin Herbert’s go-to wide receivers. Redd enters this week’s matchup against Washington State with a touchdown reception in six straight games. In Pac-12 conference action, the Cougars have coughed up the following box scores to opposing wide receivers: UCLA’s Demetric Felton recorded 7 receptions, 150 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns, Utah’s Bryan Thompson posted 4 receptions and 111 yards receiving, and Arizona State’s Brandon Aiyuk caught 7 passes for 196 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Like Redd, all three of these receivers are speedsters.

RJ Turner, Texas Tech ($6,500) – The price tag has not caught up to Turner’s recent production. The senior wide receiver has caught 18 passes for 214 yards in the Texas Tech Red Raiderslast two games. Combine that with a matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks’ reeling pass defense (89th in passing yards allowed), and we have one of the best value plays on this slate.

Others to consider: Jerry Jeudy, Eosap Winston Jr., Demetric Felton, Devonta Smith, Brandon Aiyuk, Kobe Smith, TJ Vasher, Henry Ruggs III, Andrew Parchment, Kyle Philips, Chase Claypool, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Stephon Robinson Jr., Cole Kmet, Siaosi Mariner (if he plays), Erik Ezukanma, Albert Okwuegbunam, Johnathon Johnson, Johnny Johnson III, Mycah Pittman, and Jaylen Waddle
