College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 10/3/19 All Day Slate

Week 6 of college football is here! FanDuel's Thursday night college football DFS all day slate includes two games.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running back slots, three wide receiver slots (which also includes tight ends) and one super flex slot. In the flex, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our in-house projections as well as betting totals and advanced statistics to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. This week, we are only breaking down Thursday's all day slate, which locks at 7:30 p.m. EST.

Let's breakdown which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with cheap price tags that will allow you to roster the high dollar players.

Quarterbacks

Anthony Russo, Temple (10,200) – Russo is averaging 267.8 yards passing on nearly 38 pass attempts this season. The junior signal caller is tied for second in the American Conference with 10 touchdown passes. Russo should be excited to face the East Carolina Pirates this week. He completed 21 of 25 passes for 254 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in the Temple Owls49-6 beatdown of ECU last season.

Shai Werts, Georgia Southern (9,200) – The junior quarterback accounted for 25 touchdowns while operating the Georgia Southern Eagles’ triple-option offense last season. Werts was injured the team’s opening game at LSU and returned to the field in last week’s loss to the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns. This is a fantastic spot for Werts and the Eagles’ offense as the South Alabama Jaguars' defense has struggled against the run. They’re allowing nearly 180 yards rushing per game this season. In two careers games against South Alabama, Werts has rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.

Cephus Johnson, South Alabama (8,600) – Johnson leads the Jaguars with four rushing touchdowns this season. Additionally, the dual-threat signal caller has accounted for seven of the Jaguars’ 14 offensive touchdowns. Despite an inconsistent start to the season, South Alabama coaches believe that the sophomore has a huge future. This week's matchup with Georgia Southern should be a good spot for the young quarterback as Georgia Southern ranks 90th in the country in total defense (allowing 413.3 totals yards per game on average).

Others to consider: Holton Ahlers

Running Backs

Re’Mahn Davis, Temple (9,600) – The freshman running back ran for 135 yards on 29 carries in last week’s win over Georgia Tech. After last week’s performance, Davis now leads all Owls’ ball carriers with 346 yards rushing and three touchdowns through four games. Look for the young running back to take advantage of East Carolina’s porous rush defense this week. In five games this season, ECU has surrendered 11 rushing touchdowns to opposing backfields.

Tra Minter, South Alabama (8,300) – Minter has been the best player on the Jaguars’ struggling offense this season. The senior running back has rushed for over 100 yards in two out of five games. This should be a good matchup for the talented ball carrier as Georgia Southern is allowing two rushing touchdowns per game to opposing backfields.

Wesley Kennedy, Georgia Southern (7,500) – There were high expectations for Kennedy entering this season. However, the playmaker was forced to miss the team’s first four games in 2019 due to a suspension. The junior is expected to make his season debut this week against South Alabama. Kennedy led the Eagles with 15 receptions a season ago. The versatile slot back recorded 182 yards receiving while also rushing for 495 yards and three touchdowns on 63 carries last season.

Others to consider: Logan Wright, Jager Gardner, and Demetrius Mauney

Wide Receivers

Jadan Blue, Temple (9,000) – Blue leads the Owls’ with 27 receptions and 402 yards receiving through four games this season. The redshirt sophomore has at least 65 yards receiving in every game this season. The emerging playmaker has his eyes set on a huge season.

Braden Mack, Temple (7,700) – The junior wide receiver led the Owls with five touchdown receptions in 2018. Through four games this season, Mack has 17 receptions, 228 yards receiving, and two touchdowns in Temple’s up-tempo offense. Mack is cheap on this two-game slate considering he’s averaging 10 targets per game this season.

Kawaan Baker, South Alabama ($7,400) – Baker tied a school record with 13 touchdowns last season. The versatile slot receiver has been limited to 227 yards receiving and 54 yards rushing through five games this season. The Jaguars are hoping to find a way to get the ball in their star playmaker’s hands more often as the 2019 season progresses.

Others to consider: Isaiah Wright and Blake Proehl
