Carter had declared for the draft without hiring an agent to get feedback on what he can do to improve his shot at playing in the NBA. He will take that knowledge back to West Virginia and try to lead the Mountaineers to greater heights in 2017-18.

The 2016-17 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, Carter averaged 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while posting an 89.6 defensive rating.
