10. Shane Battier, Duke Blue Devils (2000-01)

Sure, we established that the players who get the hardware don't always enjoy the best season. But the key word there is always, because sometimes it happens. Shane Battier did it in his last season with the Duke Blue Devils.

Battier took home Player of the Year honors with averages of 19.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 2.1 steals in 34.9 minutes. He also knocked down 3.2 threes per contest on 41.9% from beyond the arc.

The senior forward totaled 10.1 win shares on the season and put up .296 win shares per 40 minutes of play. He was the star behind the Blue Devils' 35-4 national championship season.
