Carmelo Anthony reportedly traded from Thunder to Hawks, will be waived

The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to trade forward Carmelo Anthony and a 2022 lottery-protected first-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks for point guard Dennis Schroder and forward/center Mike Muscala, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.

What It Means:

Anthony will be bought out and is free to sign with a team of his choice. The Houston Rockets are the "frontrunner," according to Woj, who added that the Thunder will flip Muscala to the Philadelphia 76ers for guard/forward Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. Justin Anderson will also be traded from the 76ers to the Hawks.

Anthony averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting just 40.4 percent from the field for the Thunder last season.
