Mavericks move up to land Luka Doncic, send Hawks 5th pick and future 1st
The Dallas Mavericks acquired the 3rd overall pick, which was used on Luka Doncic, from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the 5th overall pick and a future first-rounder, according to multiple reports.
Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports that the future first will be a protected 2019 pick. Doncic, only 19, is a multi-time MVP and multi-time champion who has the size and skills to play both in the backcourt and on the wing. The Hawks chose Oklahoma guard Trae Young with the 5th pick.
