Celtics' Gordon Hayward (leg) undergoes surgery to remove plate, screws
Boston Celtics guard/forward Gordon Hayward underwent surgery to remove the plates and screws from his surgically repaired left leg on Wednesday.
The plate and screws were "causing irritation to his peroneal tendons", so the surgery was necessary in order to relieve the discomfort. Hayward is expected to resume basketball activities in six-to-eight weeks and be at "full strength for the start of training camp". It will be interesting to see how the rotation plays out with wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum both excelling in his absence this season.
Hayward played just 5.25 minutes in 1 game before severely injuring his leg and ankle. He averaged 21.9 points in his last full season with the Utah Jazz.
