Atlanta Hawks officially hire Lloyd Pierce as their next head coach
The Atlanta Hawks have officially name Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce as their next head coach.
After moving on from head coach Mike Budenholzer on April 25, the team has found his successor only a few weeks later. Pierce played in the NBA for four seasons from 1998 to 2002 then was an assistant for four years at his alma mater, Santa Clara. Pierce then moved to the NBA where he spent the next 11 years as an assistant head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, and the 76ers.
The Hawks finished the 2017-18 season with a 24-58 record, tied with the Dallas Mavericks for the fourth-worst mark in the NBA.
