Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki told reporters that he is going to return and play in the 2018-19 season despite undergoing season-ending ankle surgery.
Nowitzki squashed all rumors as he announced he would return for his 21st NBA season. While the forward slowed a bit, his shot was still on point as he shot 45.9% from the field and 40.9% from three. The rebuilding Mavs will likely ask the 40-year-old Nowitzki to move to a bench role next season after he averaged just 24.7 minutes per game this year.
Nowitzki finished 2017-18 with averages of 12.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.
