Tim Hardaway Jr. (leg) out weeks or months for Knicks

New York Knicks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr.'s timetable could range from "as little as two weeks or as long as two months," according to a leading orthopedist at Northwestern University.

What It Means:

The referenced orthopedist has written a paper on leg fractures in the NBA but hasn't worked directly with Hardaway or the Knicks. Either way, if THJ is dealing with a stress fracture, it could be closer to two months, whereas a stress reaction would likely be closer to the shorter end of the timeline. With Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) also out on Monday against the Indiana Pacers, it creates some streaming appeal for Michael Beasley.

Prior to injury, Hardaway averaged 30.3 FanDuel points across 21 games. When he does return, numberFire's models project him to record 13.8 points, 2.1 3-pointers, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.7 turnovers per game on a 43.3 field goal percentage and 39.8 3-point percentage over the remainder of the year.
