Cavaliers' Derrick Rose (ankle) away from team, evaluating future in NBA
Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Derrick Rose is away from the team and evaluating his basketball future, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski cites a source saying, "He's tired of being hurt and it's taking a toll on him mentally." Rose has played just 7-of-18 games and has been out since November 9th with an ankle injury. The one-time MVP and oft-injured veteran is still only 29, but it appears his future is in doubt. If and until he returns, Jose Calderon would start while Isaiah Thomas (hip) remains out. However, the team will have more pressure to bring Thomas back sooner than later from offseason surgery.
Rose has averaged 18.5 FanDuel points per game in 2017. As of now, he's projected to average 13.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds over 56 games the rest of the year.
