Bulls' Cameron Payne (foot) given January 1st as target date
Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg said that the goal is to have point guard Cameron Payne return around January 1st, reports the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson.
After picking up the 23-year-old's team option earlier this week, the Bulls have to be itching to get their recent acquisition out on the floor. Payne has yet to suit up as a member of the Bulls, after injuring and undergoing surgery on his problematic right foot. Hoiberg raved over Payne on Saturday saying, "He does some things that could help this team when he gets healthy by getting into the paint and making plays." While that's certainly true, Payne will have to deal with the fellow guards Jerian Grant and Kris Dunn when he finally gets on the floor.
Our models project Payne to average 4.7 points and 13.8 minutes in 18 games this season.
