Reggie Jackson, Ish Smith to split point guard duties for Pistons
Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy hasn't decided whether Reggie Jackson or Ish Smith will start at point guard on opening night versus the Charlotte Hornets.
“They’re both going to play with both units, so I don’t worry too much about that,†Van Gundy said after Sunday’s workout. “Even in practice today, we switched them from segment to segment, so they’re both playing with everybody. We haven’t locked either one of them into one unit or the other.†It sounds like this could be a season-long position battle that caps each player's respective fantasy outlook.
numberFire's models believe Jackson will play 28.6 minutes per game this season, compared to 20.6 minutes for Smith. The former is projected for averages of 15.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 1.6 3-pointers on 40.8 percent shooting from the field.
