In a recent interview, Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns stated the need for him to balance his versatility, saying that threes are sexy but the job gets done down low.
Last season, Towns went from taking 1.1 threes per game in 2015-16 to making 1.2 on 3.4 attempts per outing. He shot 36.7% from three while hitting 58.2% of his shots from inside the arc, leading to a team-high 25.1 points per game.
In his 3rd year in the league, it appears that Towns is poised for a true breakout. Through 3 preseason games, he's made 7-of-9 three-point attempts and has 47 points in 71 minutes. According to our models, Towns is just in regular season form, as he's projected for 23.0 points on 52.7% from the field and 1.3 treys per on 34.5% shooting. He is set to be a top-5 fantasy asset this season and, on average, is going with the 6th overall pick in standard Yahoo! drafts.
