Spurs bringing Rudy Gay (Achilles) along slowly
San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay has been cleared by doctors, but coach Gregg Popovich has chosen to be conservative with his preseason activity.
What It Means:
Popovich was quoted as saying, "That's just what I do." He also added that he may bring him along more slowly that Gay want's him to, but this could be good for the 31-year-old's longevity this season and beyond. He was held out of Monday's preseason contest against his former team, the Sacramento Kings, but is expected to be a full-go for the regular season.
With Popovich planning to play Gay at both forward spots, we project him for 26.0 minutes and 12.5 points per in 65 games this season.
