Tim Hardaway Jr. agrees to four-year offer sheet with Knicks

Atlanta Hawks restricted free agent shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. has signed a four-year, $71 million offer sheet with the New York Knicks, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

What It Means:

To recap, the Knicks traded Hardaway away for Jerian Grant a couple summers ago. Grant was eventually traded for Derrick Rose, who was then renounced so the Knicks could sign Hardaway for $71 million. It's possible that the Hawks match this exorbitant offer, but they likely want to keep their cap number low while working on a rebuild.

Hardaway started to flash over the second half of last season, as he averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.8 steals, and 2.1 3-pointers over 25 games (15 starts) after the break. His 1.1 nERD for the season tied for 103rd in the NBA.
