Danilo Gallinari is heading to the Clippers

Free agent small forward Danilo Gallinari, formerly of the Denver Nuggets, will join the Los Angeles Clippers on a 3-year deal worth $65 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

What It Means:

Gallinari will head to Los Angeles as part of a three-way sign-and-trade deal that sends Jamal Crawford, Diamond Stone, and a 2018 first-round pick from the Clippers (via the Houston Rockets) to the Atlanta Hawks, while the Nuggets receive a 2019 second-round pick. With Chris Paul in Houston, Gallo immediately becomes the second option in the Clippers' offense behind Blake Griffin. His durability has always been a concern (57.8 games per year over five full seasons in Denver), but Gallinari was a top-50 option on a per-game basis in standard formats last season.

Among 275 qualifying forwards in the NBA last season, Gallinari ranked 14th with a 6.1 nERD. He averaged 18.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.0 3-pointers over 63 contests.
