Knicks want to avoid buying out Carmelo Anthony
The New York Knicks still want to trade, not buyout, Carmelo Anthony, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Even with Phil Jackson's departure, the Knicks' stance remains the same. If the team were to land Toronto Raptors general manger Masai Ujiri, it would be interesting to see whether or not that approach holds. After all, rumors are flying around a Melo buyout in order for him to join the Houston Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers.
Anthony's -0.7 nERD in 2016-17 was his worst since 2004-05 and positioned him 8th on the Knicks.
