Los Angeles Clippers unrestricted free agent forward/center Blake Griffin (toe) may not be ready for the start of the season and could be out until December, according to ESPN's Michael Eaves.
This contradicts Ramona Shelburne, also of ESPN, who has been informed that Griffin will be ready by the 2017-18 season opener. The 28-year-old All-Star received surgery on May 1 after injuring his right big toe against the Utah Jazz in Game 3 of their second-round matchup. Following the departure of Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets, the Clippers are reportedly willing to offer Griffin a five-year max to keep him in Los Angeles.
Griffin's 7.3 nERD ranked 26th in the NBA last season. He averaged 21.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists across 34.0 minutes a game.
