Pistons' Brandon Jennings (Achilles) okay with bench role

Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings (left Achilles) said he would be "fine" coming off the bench behind Reggie Jackson this season.

What It Means:

Jennings is taking the high road as he seeks to return from a devastating injury that may force him to miss the beginning of the season, and it's a given that Detroit will start Jackson after locking him up with a five-year, $80 million pact this summer. Jennings, who hasn't played in seven months, said that he's been studying tape of Tim Hardaway, Kenny Anderson and James Harden during his rehab.

"I don't know if I'll be ready for training camp," he said. "I'm definitely going to take my time through training camp and also through the preseason. I probably won't be back to myself until at least around December. That's for sure."
