Willie Reed to decline his option with Miami
Miami Heat center Willie Reed will decline his player option for the 2017-2018 season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
The option would be worth only $1.5 million, and the 27-year-old stands to command more than that on the open market after a promising 2016-2017 season, especially with this off-season's free agent class being thin at center.
Reed averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game this season while also posting 14.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in his five starts. He ranked 68th in the NBA and third among Heat players with a 3.0 nERD.
