Carmelo Anthony (rest) unlikely to play for Knicks on Friday

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (rest) will not suit up for Friday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, per Knicks' beat writer Marc Berman.

What It Means:

Anthony is dealing with back soreness, and this is the second half of back-to-back set while the Knicks have nothing left to play for and only three regular season games left -- resting him seems like a smart move on the part of the Knicks. Look for Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Justin Holiday to see increased minutes if ANthony doesn't suit up tonight.

Anthony has averaged 22.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 34.5 minutes per game this season. He ranks only 261st out of 484 players with a -0.6 nERD.
