Nuggets' Danilo Gallinari likely to decline player option
Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari is expected to decline his player option for the 2017-2018 season, which would be worth $16.1 million.
This isn't a big surprise, as he's likely to make significantly more than that under the new salary cap. Gallo will be 29 at the beginning of next season, and as a versatile forward in his prime, he stands to play a big role wherever he lands in free agency.
Gallinari has averaged 18.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season, while shooting a .527 effective field goal percentage that is his best mark since his 2008-2009 rookie season. He also ranks second among Nuggets players and 35th in the NBA with a 5.6 nERD on the year.
