Knicks praise Guillermo Hernangomez after double-double on Saturday

New York Knicks center Guillermo Hernangomez received praise from head coach Jeff Hornacek after he scored 24 points with 13 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block on Saturday.

What It Means:

"He’s getting better and better every game," Hornacek said. "You see how smart a player he is. He didn’t try to jump over the guys and challenge them — he shot his little floaters over them." Hornacek said he isn't ready to commit to Hernangomez as the starting center for the 2017-18 season, but with Joakim Noah suspended for the first 12 games of that campaign, the rookie has to be the heavy favorite.

Hernangomez actually led the team against the Spurs in value generated, with 27.72 nERD, per numberFire Live.
