Hassan Whiteside suffers a sprained ankle as Miami falls to Toronto

Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside suffered an ankle sprain in the fourth quarter of Thursday night's home loss to the Toronto Raptors.

What It Means:

The Heat are fighting for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, and with Whiteside downplaying this injury as "more just annoying", it seems likely that he will try to play through it as the Heat travel to Boston to take on the Celtics on Sunday.

Whiteside is averaging career-highs in points (16.8) and rebounds (a league-best 14.2) while adding 2.1 blocks in 32.8 minutes per game this season. He leads Heat players and ranks 21st in the NBA with a 7.6 nERD on the year.
