Lakers will shut down Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov for the season
The Los Angeles Lakers will shut down small forward Luol Deng and center Timofey Mozgov for the remainder of the season, per ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
The Lakers are going with a full-on youth movement as they sit way out of playoff contention and have nothing to play for down the stretch this year. The two have barely seen the floor in March so far, so this news doesn't change much, but it does mean that guys like Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac should continue to see plenty of run for the remainder of the season.
Deng has struggled this season, averaging 7.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26.5 minutes per game. He ranks only 460th among 476 players with a -4.7 nERD on the year.
