Orlando trading Serge Ibaka to the Raptors

The Orlando Magic are trading forward/center Serge Ibaka to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Terrence Ross and a 2017 first-round pick, per The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

What It Means:

The Raptors have been struggling to find a starting power forward this season, and Ibaka is a great fit for that need. Ibaka's presence will likely cut into the minutes of just about every Raptors' frontcourt player, while Norman Powell should see a big increase in playing time with Ross out of town. Jeff Green could see some increased minutes, while Aaron Gordon will likely begin to get more run at power forward with Ibaka no longer in Orlando.

Ibaka is shooting a decent .547 effective field goal percentage on the season, and his solid rim protection and shot-blocking abilities (with a 4.3 percent block rate on the year and 6.3 percent over his career) should provide a big boost for a Raptors defense that is allowing opponents a top-five field goal percentage from within three feet of the basket this season. His 1.4 nERD is currently tied for 87th in the NBA.
